Sloan, Orange County, CA
Berit did a flawless job on not only my makeup, but also on the makeup of my ten bridesmaids. I am VERY picky when it comes to makeup, and Berit listened to every request and exceeded all of my expectations. I did a lot of research on makeup vendors, and I am so happy I found Berit. She is incredibly talented at what she does, and is also very professional. In addition, she is such a kind person and such a pleasure to be around. I am so thankful that she was part of my wedding day! She helped me stay calm and relaxed while also making me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt. If you are looking for the best, then look no further!
Wendy, Marriott - Laguna Cliffs
Berit was so wonderful to work with! She did my makeup for a wedding I was in a few years ago and when we decided to get married in southern California, I knew I wanted her to do my makeup for our big day. She was on time, incredibly flexible, versatile (in styles/personalities) and was always ready and anticipating when I'd need a touch up. She did myself, my bridesmaids and the mothers of the bride and groom. Everyone was very happy with their makeup. I would highly recommend using Berit for your wedding for flawless, worry-free makeup!
Jillian, Shady Canyon Golf Club
I was referred to Berit by a good friend who has worked with her many times, along with our wedding planner Brooke Keegan. From start to finish, working with Berit was a pleasure! She did my makeup exactly as I wanted and envisioned for our wedding day. Berit is easy to communicate with, she is uber organized and she made me feel relaxed the entire time. I had a makeup trial with her a month before our wedding date and it was so fun to see what she was able to do and how she made me look beautiful! Not all vendors are as organized and creative, yet Berit is the whole package and more! Highly recommend her and have referred her to my own friends!
Lauren, Terranea Resort
Berit was absolutely wonderful to work with! I first had my makeup done by her as a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and loved the outcome. When it came time for my wedding, she was the only person I would even consider. I decided to go with the 'All Day Package' which worked out perfectly. The package included a trial at Berit's studio where she spent almost 4 hours with me and my Mom. On my wedding day she did mine, my 5 bridesmaids, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother's makeup. Everyone felt and looked stunning. The 'All Day Package' also included touch-ups for the groom, touch-ups after photos (before the ceremony) and also a look change for the reception. It was so nice having Berit with me and my bridesmaids for the entire day. She is detail oriented, extremely professional and so sweet. I couldn't speak any more highly of her and would definitely recommend her to all future brides.
Our Premium All Day Package
Berit’s “all-day exclusive wedding package” have been a big hit since first offered five years ago, and is appropriate when any of the following applies:
-You have a large bridal party
-You want to do a second makeup look for your grand entrance
-You are unsure of how many people will want makeup, but want to make it available for everyone and lock in Berit for the date
-It’s a wedding with completely different looks and outfits for the morning and evening event
-You want the makeup artist on hand at all times as “insurance” - to perfect your look as well as those of the others, through the challenges of heat, crying, and a long day
Your artist will not book any other clients on your wedding day, but will be completely dedicated to you and your wedding.
Contact us for the full description of the package; here are the highlights:
* I'll be there as early and stay as late as you want to - up to 12 hours of continuous services on the wedding day (even longer with our new “Top Shelf” package)
* Trial for Bride + 1 other is included
* A large number of people can get makeup done; family members and friends can come for services before and after the bridal party. If there are more people than Berit (or your key artist) can handle by herself, you can add more artists to do makeup at a reduced rate
* Anyone can get whatever level of service they prefer, and don’t need to fit into the categories “full makeup” or “half makeup” for pricing determination. If someone just wants lashes, or get brows shaped, airbrush foundation, or just eyes; a groom who needs to cut shine in pictures or a best man with a sunburn – there are no limitations or worries about their charges.
* We can also do hair touchups after you hair stylist leaves, and do simple changes throughout the day, such as putting a half-up into an updo for the evening
What happens at the trial, and what do I need to bring?
The trial usually takes 2 hours, and you should bring a picture of the dress, the BM dress, and if you have pictures of what your hair will be like, and what makeup looks you are considering, bring them too! We will discuss the wedding, the look, and logistics in great detail. Then we do the makeup application with lashes and all - sometimes we may try a couple of different looks to make sure we get exactly what you love. Don’t be shy about telling me anything you want to change - this is your day and your face!
I write down everything I did, and I send you all the pictures so you can see if you want more tweaks. You may choose to bring one more person to also do the trial (mom, MoH); then you should plan on up to 3 hours total.
How does it work with payments?
Payment for the trial is due at the time of the trial. The deposit for the wedding day is 50% when a contract is signed; most brides write the contract at the end of the trial; but if you feel you need a couple of days to check out the pictures, show others etc, and think about it, no problem. We take personal checks, cash and bank transfers. (Sorry, no credit cards due to their fees)
Can I schedule the trial to coincide with my engagement photos?
It's a great idea, as you need to look fabulous for the shoot anyway, and also you will see how the application will photograph by the same photographer as for the wedding. I like to reserve an extra fifteen minutes for the appointment, so that we may change a couple of things before you go, and also make you a touchup kit. Often the E-shoot photos are beachy and casual, and take place at sunset light which is very warm, whereas for the wedding it may be a more formal event with certain wedding colors you want to adhere to. You may want to look a bit different in the photos even just for the sake of variation!
Will I have to buy the lipstick you use for touchups?
You don’t have to buy anything! I will give the bride a touchup kit that includes powder and lip makeup for a few touchups that day. Some brides choose to buy the lip products I use because they like them anyway, but often I mix several colors to create the perfect shade.
My bridesmaids want makeup done (or, I want them done!), but they are uncomfortable with the price. Any options?
Other than you picking up the whole tab, there are two other options. You can decide to subsidize the bridesmaids, which has been done successfully by several brides. You decide what you feel comfortable asking them to contribute, and you cover the rest. We can keep it transparent on the wedding day, or you can take care of your portion ahead of time, and I will not let them know the arrangement - you decide what’s appropriate. The other option is for some bridesmaids to just do an “eyes-lips-cheeks” option, which takes about half the time and costs less than full makeup.
We are all going off-site to a hair salon to get our hair done - is there a problem with that?
My experience shows that there are always serious delays when people go off-site for hair! Plan lots of extra time in case the salon is running late, be realistic about drive time, and please don’t all go in one car in case one person is not done but the rest of you need to leave. Also keep in mind that someone may need to touch up the hair later (I’m happy to bring hair equipment and do that, but we’d need to set aside extra time for it). If you'd like a highly qualified stylist who does great wedding hair to come to you, I can set you up!
How much space do you need?
I bring a director’s chair and a table to do my setup, and need to face a window to have good daylight. The setup will be similar to what you see at the preview. If I bring a second artist she will need to have space in good light as well.
Is gratuity expected for makeup services?
Wedding makeup artists are paid the same way as a hair stylist visit would be handled. For TheKnot.com’s tipping cheat-sheet, click HERE.
What if I can’t decide between a softer look and a stronger one, maybe with a smokey eye for my wedding?
Of course, it will be sunny and bright when we start, but dark later and you want to look appropriate for each!
A couple of options here. First of all, the most important makeup is what the bulk of the photographs will be of; which is normally early on and with good daylight. Pictures from the reception are rarely used for the mantel! However, a change is possible.
1) We can discuss options for changes at the trial, and may decide on a stronger lip and/or a quick eye change that you can do yourself before the reception. 2) You can hire me to stay for touchups, and I can transform your day look to an evening look. I would also be available for your mother and BMs as time allows. 3) If you hire me for the all-day package, I stay as long as you want me for!
How long does it take on the wedding day?
A full makeup application takes 45 minutes; for the bride up to 60. If necessary due to time constraints, I can bring a 2nd artist from the team to do some of the faces. Note, I only work with makeup artists who attended the same academy as I did!
What about when I cry?
The mascara, liner, eyelash glue and the cream shadows are waterproof, so you will be fine. You just need to have a kleenex on hand to dab up to the eye if it happens, so that the tears don’t roll down the face through the foundation. We will talk about this during the trial.
Will we need to prepare in any way before you do our makeup on the wedding day?
Everyone should come with a clean face, and when selecting what to wear, keep in mind that I will need to see the skin color on the parts of the body that will show in the dress (arms/chest), and will need to fix any tan lines that will show in the dress. Also keep in mind that for hair, everyone will need to be wearing a top that can be taken off without touching the hairdo.
I do take a minute to “clean up” the brows with tweezers before we start makeup, but anyone needing major work is encouraged to get it done beforehand! Please, no waxing 10 days before the wedding, as makeup may not adhere to the skin in that area.
